How to Make Passive Income with Domain Flipping

Hello, and welcome to my blog; since some of you may not know what domains are, here is a brief explanation:

A domain name refers to your website address. This is what users type in a browser’s search bar to access your website directly. A domain name is unique and cannot be shared between different sites.

What is Domain Flipping?

Domain Flipping is a method where you buy a domain to sell it for more money later, just like you can buy a house and, because of the increase in value/rarity, sell it for more money later; we will do the same with domains.

Most people do domain flipping in a simple way where they search for some specific words or wait for new TLDs to be created and then buy domains in bulk; those methods were stupid to me, so I came up with my own method.

The method I used to make money with Domain Flipping

You know how when you go to, for example, naruto.com, it redirects you to VIZ, which is the official English seller of manga and anime. Does anything come to mind?

If nothing comes to mind, here’s the method I used: I would go to sites that advertised new manga, comics, movies, series, Korean dramas, and anime releases and then buy their domain names.

Most of them don’t buy domains until they go official, which gives you a chance to buy domains and then sell them for $100-$250. Considering that .com, .net and .org domains are all around $10 per year, that means you are in the profit range of 100-250%.

In many cases, it’s not the publishers themselves who want to buy those domains, but other people, although you shouldn’t even care as long as you can sell the same domains. If any of you are afraid of legal reasons, you have nothing to fear because 1. This is completely legal, even if they registered the trademark, it would take a couple of weeks to come to an agreement with the domain provider, if that happens, you would just give it to them, so you’re not in trouble, but 99.99% of the time if you put a price of $100-$250 they’ll just buy it so they don’t waste time on it.

Step 1: Find Targets

This is the most important and difficult part, the best sites to find your targets are:

I often go to MyAnimeList because my friend told me that manga, in many cases, later become anime (They are animated just like how The Walking Dead comic is animated).

In most cases, I would look at mangas that are ranked in popularity in the top 1,000. Those manga have the most chance to be animated, but I only buy .com domains for manga. If you manage to snag a .com domain for any new anime, series, or movie, you’re almost guaranteed to be able to sell it.

How to Register a Domain Name

Go to this domain registrar, as they offer one of the cheapest prices, then start looking for domains for your show:

As you can see, the .com domain is available and can be bought, so I might as well buy it now.

Now you will need some cheap hosting purely to host the landing pages.

I usually go with this hosting for $34 a year.

How to Connect Domain to Hosting

Choose the domain that you want to connect.

Put here the Name servers of Namecheap Shared Hosting.

Your domain will be pointed to Namecheap hosting nameservers shortly after the changes are saved.

In most cases, the DNS propagation period can take up to 24-48 hours (In most cases, it’s instant).

Once you connect the nameservers, you can start creating your website. Using Softaculous automatic app installer you can install WordPress in a few clicks.

Below you can find step-by-step guidelines covering the process:

1. Log into your cPanel.
2. Navigate to Exclusive for Namecheap customers section > Softaculous Apps Installer menu:

3. On the homepage, click Install under the WordPress icon:

4. On the next page you will need to fill out the details of your WordPress installation.

• Choose the domain you wish to install WordPress for.
• In the In Directory field you can specify the root folder for WordPress installation. By default, this field is empty, and it allows installing WordPress on yourdomain.com directly. If you wish to install it to a subfolder, like yourdomain.com/blog, simply type “blog” in this field.
• Choose the version of WordPress you want to install.
• Database Name can be left default.
• Table Prefix can also be left default wp_; however, due to security reasons it is better to change it, e.g., to ncwpsite_ .
• The Site Settings section should be filled out accordingly to your needs, though you can change it anytime later if required.

Make sure you set up secure and hard-to guess details in the Admin Account section:

5. When ready, scroll down and hit Install.
In a few moments you will see the message that WordPress has been successfully installed:

You can now go ahead and log into your WordPress Dashboard to start working on your website.

How to Scale this Further to $1,000+ a Month?

I would go to new games and apps on the Google Play Store and look to buy a domain name with their game name, for example, clashofclans.com. You can also go to growing YouTube channels, Instagram pages, or tiktokers, who deal with business/motivation since, in most cases, they will want to buy domains with their name. I used to buy hundreds of domains like this every month and make a few thousand dollars each month from this.
